Luxury motor yacht manufacturer, Maritimo, has had its most successful boat show in a decade at this weekend’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show with sales in excess of its all time record of $37 million prior to the GFC.
The sales rush in the past four days puts Maritimo ahead of the $37 million record on the last day of the show and that figure is set to increase further as deals are finalised over coming days.
Maritimo CEO Garth Corbitt said sales had been made across the entire range of the company’s models with the X60 luxury sports yacht and the S70 and M70 motor yachts attracting big interest. There were multiple X60 sales following its world premiere on Thursday.
“We have dealer partners here from New Zealand, Monaco, Thailand, China and the USA as well as from throughout Australia and the atmosphere is simply electric,” he said. “The world premiere of the X60 sports yacht has drawn huge attention to Maritimo and sales have just flowed throughout the whole show.”
“We have numerous factory tours planned for the coming week with prospective buyers and I’m confident that our total sales from the show will move even further ahead”
Corbitt said the result was good news for the Gold Coast economy overall with hundreds of jobs now further supported by forward orders. Maritimo’s forward order book now stretches out to the end of 2019.
“To say we are thrilled is somewhat of an understatement and the result vindicates all the hard work, planning and innovation that we have undertaken to make out product world class,” he said.
Market leading east coast based dealer MW Marine has announced a restructure involving new offices and staff.
Established by well-known boat dealer Matthew Willett in 2010, MW Marine has an enviable reputation within the industry and with boat owners as a business that utilises a modern client focused approach. With a combination of technology and solid customer service they have set a benchmark for the industry whilst representing brands that deliver on quality and performance.
MW Marine will be opening a Port Stephens office on the NSW mid-north coast to complement their Sydney Harbour head office, and will also be operating under a new ownership structure with staff member Matt Millington taking up a share in the business.
Millington has been involved in the marine industry since an early age working on boats with his father, before going full time running a marine mechanical business and then onto working on project management for major shipyard and superyacht clients.
“After working with MW Marine for a time an opportunity arose to become a stakeholder in the business. The chance to work more closely with such a well-respected dealer such as Matt Willett was not one I could let pass by,” said Millington
“He has enthusiasm and commitment that sits well with the ethos of the dealership,” says Willett of Millington. “The time is right for the business to develop further and we are in an excellent position to build on our success in the market.”
As the Jeanneau outboard dealer for NSW and QLD with over 35 units sold last year, MW Marine has firmly secured the French marque in a market that demands not just excellent product but comprehensive backup service fully supported by the parent factory.
MW Marine also represents local brand Maritimo in NSW and are currently at the factory to review the progress of the three new builds underway for expectant customers. Those with a passion for the more classically fishing orientated models are also catered for with the Robalo brand rounding off the MW Marine lineup.
At the 2018 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show MW Marine has a display of Jeanneau outboard models including the MF895, MF795, Cap Camarat 6.5WA, and the NC11 inboard cruiser. The newly launched Jeanneau MF1095 will have its Australasian debut at the 2018 Sydney International Boat Show in August.
Maritimo has discovered the X-factor with its new range of stylish, long-range luxury sport yachts with the first in the range, the X60, causing a sensation domestically and overseas.
The Maritimo X60, which has been described as a game-changer in the competitive sports or sedan cruiser market, will be launched internationally at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, and already a company record number of pre-sale deposits on the model has been achieved.
Maritimo’s Tom Barry-Cotter said a new alternate arrangement within the X60 living accommodations has been developed as a result of working closely with customers since concept development.
The X60 now offers a ‘Regency Suite’ option that expands the owner stateroom of the vessel over multiple cabins. The Regency Suite option reduces the standard living accommodations from three cabin to two cabin, with the expansive king bed master cabin broadening into the starboard stateroom.
“However the flexibility of the X60’s aft cabin easily enables the area to be optioned as a cavernous VIP guest cabin to be brought back to a three cabin arrangement,” he said. “Our R&D program has worked very closely with our customers in identifying user needs and how best to capitalise on the versatility of the X60 aft cabin design.” said Tom.
“The versatility offered by the X-Series Regency Suite option now enables the flexibility for owners to configure into two-cabin, multiple three-cabin, and four cabin layout. This allows owners to customise and perfect their vessel to their exact needs.”
Tom said the uniqueness and versatility of the X-Series is what has created the early momentum.
“The recognised long range and performance heritage of past Maritimo’s coupled with such versatile living arrangements, all cloaked in beautiful form has engineered something that is truly unique, and has created the aura of something that is going to be very special,” he said. “Excitement is building not just domestically, but internationally as strong interest is developing in New Zealand, North America, Asia and Europe, with many early X60’s on order scheduled for New Zealand, North American and European destinations.”
There are multiple X-Series models in development and scheduled for release over the next 24 months, with information on these models to be released later in 2018.
